I Beatles lavorano in studio 11 ore per perfezionare questo singolo. Al tempo è un record per loro, anche se verrà stracciato quando le maratone in studio diventeranno la regola. Il risultato è una canzone principalmente di Paul McCartney (probabilmente ispirata dalla sua turbolenta relazione con Jane Asher) ma che ad un certo punto presenta uno dei tipici dialoghi tra lui e John Lennon.
«In We Can Work It Out, Paul ha scritto la prima parte, io i middle eight. Ma Paul è l'ottimista che dice: “Possiamo risolverla / Possiamo risolverla” - mentre io, più pessimista: “La vita è breve e non c'è tempo / per litigare, amico mio.”» - Racconta John.Due personalità ben distinte ma che unite riescono a creare qualcosa di meraviglioso. We Can Work It Out è un perfetto esempio della collaborazione tra i due autori, tanto che secondo Noel Gallagher degli Oasis «la canzone definisce l'essenza dei Beatles».
La nostra è una cover a distanza. Nello spazio e nel tempo. Le riprese sono infatti iniziate nel 2013 e ultimate in un periodo strano, dovuto alla pandemia da Covid-19. Il messaggio è di ottimismo. Con la speranza di tornare, una volta finita l'emergenza sanitaria, finalmente ai nostri concerti dal vivo. Una cosa che ci manca tanto.
