Get Back

Get Back was supposed to be the title of the album that would represent a “ritorno” to the origins for the Beatles. “No tricks”. It was meant to recapture their rock imprint and the live approach that had characterized the early years of their career. In that regard, keyboardist Billy Preston was added to the group. This was partly to avoid future overdubs, but also to try to break the growing tension among the four Beatles during that period. The project was later abandoned and eventually resurrected and released under the name Let It Be, after the Beatles had already disbanded.

The original title track, written by McCartney based on the title, was initially meant as a mockery of racism. Due to fears of being misunderstood, it then became a confusing sequence of images about a character with dubious sexual identity. Musically, it splendidly captures what was meant to be the spirit of the album: the Beatles working together like in the old days but with superior maturity and experience.

For our video, we drew inspiration mainly from the Beatles' historic final concert on the rooftop of Apple Corps on January 30, 1969, where Get Back (and other songs) was performed for the first time. However, we didn't forget to include some Beatlesque treats mixed in with our usual footage during studio recordings.
